Tuart Hill, just north of Perth, is one of the phone exchanges in Western Australia that benefits from its local ISPs iinet and Amnet. Optus also has a DSLAM in Tuart Hill, but it has reached capacity, so that means companies selling Naked DSL on the Optus network like Internode (Ultra Plans), Netspace, Dodo, Exetel and Optus themselves have no Naked DSL ports available.

Both iinet and Amnet have Naked DSL available in Tuart Hill, so if you want Naked DSL in this area, you can go with one of these ISPs.

The Tuart Hill exchange is actually located close to Nollamara and extends through parts of Yokine and down to Tuart Hill. The northern part of the exchange also includes parts of the suburb of Westminster.

iinet

iinet will be the popular choice for many in this exchange because of the iinet VoIP service (iiTalk) which comes free with all iinet Naked DSL accounts. It includes all local and national calls to landlines for free! You can also keep your current Telstra home phone number and transfer it to the iinet iiTalk service. iinet Naked DSL plans start at just $49.95 per month.

Amnet

Amnet has a few advantages over iinet, including the fact that they only count downloads in the data allowance. Uploads are free. Amnet’s VoIP service includes a free indial number, so people can call you like if you had a standard Telstra home phone number.

But Amnet does not currently allow you to keep your existing home phone number, so you would have to get a new phone number if you want VoIP. Amnet VoIP is prepaid too – a feature bound to suit some people and be a turn-off for others. You can also read our detailed Amnet Review

We have just uploaded the Amnet plans to the site (read our Amnet Naked DSL Review), but also saw that Amnet is running a ‘Stimulus’ promotion. Their offer is $100 credit if you sign up on a 24 month plan with Amnet in May 2009. So there’s a bit over a week to go to take advantage of this one.

The credit can be applied against hardware you buy from Amnet or pay off your monthly access fee.

You don’t have do do anything to receive the $100 credit, just sign up online during May and the credit will be applied to your account. Don’t worry about the field “Enter Promo Code” when you go to sign up. The credit will show up on your first or second invoice.

This offer is for any Amnet broadband plan, not just Naked DSL. But we of course recemmend Naked DSL as being the best way to connect broadband! Amnet is available at selected phone exchanges in WA and SA.

According to Wikipedia, Amnet was actually the first ISP to launch Naked DSL in Australia followed by iinet a day later. We have just uploaded the Amnet ‘Naked Line’ plans to the database, so they will now be shown if they are availbale at your phone exchange.

Amnet Naked DSL plans are only available currently in Western Australia and South Australia. But they have been involved in some special projects in SA to increase broadband services in Salisbury and the Barossa. Amnet is the only Naked DSL provider with services in Kapunda, Nuriootpa and Tanunda in SA.

We were also recently able to help someone in Perth who had been unsuccesfully trying to connect Naked DSL or ADSL2+ with iinet at the Cannington exchange. iinet currently has no available ports at that exchange and the best they could offer was ADSL1 at slower speeds and higher prices.

We checked with Amnet and they had plenty of available ports at the Cannington exchange and the customer was soon connected to the Amnet $78.95 Naked broadband plan with 25GB (10GB + 25GB) of downloads. With no phone line rental to Telstra and a free Amnet VoIP account!

The cheapest Amnet Naked ADSL2+ plan is $48.95 per month, which comes with 2.5GB of downloads (1GB + 1.5GB). They aren’t the cheapest ISP in the market, but their customers rate them very well. In a survey of Reliability and Service by PC Authority, Amnet was the third ranked ISP (next to Westnet, who don’t do Naked DSL, and Internode who we recommend on this site).
