TPG, one of the top Internet Service Providers in Australia, now has more ports available in the Salisbury exchange in Queensland. Just in case you have come across this page looking for Naked DSL or broadband in the Salisbury exchange in South Australia, you will be happy to know that TPG (and iiNet, Internode etc) are available in Salisbury, SA as well.

TPG has released ADSL2+ broadband in Nowra today!

Finally residents of Nowra can get faster and more affordable internet services than what are currently available from Telstra. Telstra does have ADSL2+ in the area but at significantly higher prices for even a small amount of downloads.

Unfortunately TPG isn’t supplying Naked DSL in Nowra though. TPG deems Telstra’s access fee too high for Naked DSL in regional exchanges. So only ADSL2+ is available at this point. But that is a considerable improvement to broadband options in Nowra and will be welcomed by the local community!

The TPG ADSL2+ plans have upgraded this week and now start at only $29.99 per month! The $39.99 per month plan now comes with 40GB of downloads and the $49.99 plan comes with an incredible 120GB of downloads each month!

TPG has just released Naked DSL in Craigieburn. Combined with the new TPG Naked DSL plans with even more data allowance than before, this will be a popular option for Craigieburn residents.

At the time of writing this update, Naked DSL in Craigieburn had previously been available through Dodo, Exetel and Netpace on the Optus network. But Optus ports with these providers are currently listed as being “limited or unavailable”. So TPG may in fact be the only option for Naked DSL in Craigieburn.

The TPG Naked DSL plans start at $49.99 per month for 20 GB peak + 20GB off peak of downloads. TPG has also recently introduced a Naked DSL + VoIP plan for $49.99 per month which includes 500 minutes per month of VoIP calls to landlines in the major capital cities.

TPG has just activated their DSLAM equipment in Armidale NSW today. So that is some great news if you live in Armidale want fast ADSL2+ broadband not supplied by Bigpond or a Telstra reseller.

We wish we could announce that Naked DSL will now be available in Armidale, but  it’s not unfortunately. Telstra gives phone exchanges ratings – by nominating them Band 1, Band 2, Band 3 etc. The higher the “Band”, the higher the charges for wholesale access. TPG has made a commercial decision not to provide Naked DSL at Band 3 or Band 4 exchanges – presumably because the service is not profitable enough.

So even though Naked DSL is not available in Armidale, TPG ADSL2+ is available in Armidale. It means that you have to keep paying your monthly line rental, but it also means that you can get TPG’s great ADSL2+ deals!

We don’t anticipate Naked DSL becoming available soon in Armidale, and recommend instead signing up with ADSL2+ now that it is available.

The Brooklyn exchange also includes parts of the suburbs of Kingsville, Yarraville, Tottenham and Altona North. Brooklyn Park, just outside of the Adelaide CBD, is one of the more interesting exchanges in Australia. The exchange itself probably isn’t that interesting to look at, but the exchange boundaries are quite unusual. The Brooklyn Park exchange (Code: AASS) is about 90% covered by the Adelaide Airport!

The Sydney Airport is covered by the Mascot exchange but also includes a significant residential and business area within the exchange. Likewise the Tullamarine exchange in Melbourne is not just the airport!

Not even the whole of Brooklyn Park is included in this exchange – just a part of it. Sir Donald Bradman Drive and some streets next to it are part of this exchange. The rest of Brooklyn Park and most of the surrounding suburbs are included in the massive West Adelaide exchange.

But for residents and businesses connected to the Brooklyn Park exchange, this is great news. Internode are building a DSLAM there which will enable Naked DSL and ADSL2+. There are presently no Naked DSL services available in the area and only ADSL2+ through the expensive Telstra network.
